It’s a world’s first – a university in Essex is offering students the opportunity to study for a degree in boob jobs.
The postgrad degree in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Practice will be run by Anglia Ruskin University on their Chelmsford campus.
Anglia Ruskin says it has launched the MSc with the aim of improving standards in the field of cosmetic surgery, not just to increase the assets of Essex lovelies.
Currently, all UK-qualified plastic surgeons are trained by the Royal College of Surgeons to a level that allows safe surgery management with the type of work carried out on the NHS, but this does not include cosmetic surgery.
James Frame, Professor of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at Anglia Ruskin, said the course was a world first and would help patients know that qualified professionals were behind their work.
He said: “Aesthetic plastic surgery is not actually recognised as surgery. At the moment, cosmetic surgery is being done by non-plastic surgeons.”
