Have a double chin? There is a solution!

When I attended the ASDS in Chicago in October I was excited to find new products and trends within the aesthetic sector that would be launched into the UK.   I came across a very interested product called KYBELLA®.  For anyone that isn’t quite ready for surgery but has struggled to find a solution for the notorious  double chin there maybe an answer to achieve a more defined chin just around the corner!

HOW DOES KYBELLA® WORK?

KYBELLA® is a non-human and non-animal formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally-occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

When KYBELLA® is injected it causes the break down of fat cells.i   Once destroyed, those cells cannot store or accumulate fat.v  After the aesthetic response is achieved, retreatment with KYBELLA® is not expected.

Typically a doctor will inject into the fat under your chin.  Dr. Sabrina Fabi, a KYBELLA investigator said the treatment would take around 15-20minutes and 2-6 sessions would be needed however you would start to see visible results after the second treatment.    At MyFaceMyBody we always suggest you have a comprehensive consultation with a doctor first to assess whether the treatment is right for you.

Results from the KYBELLA® trials were as follows:

68.2% of patients treated with KYBELLA experienced a 1-grade response compared to 20.5% of placebo treated patients based upon validated physician and patient measurements.

16% of patients experienced a 2-grade improvement with KYBELLA®, compared to 2% of patients who responded to placebo, based on validated physician and patient measurements.

Patients also reported improvement in the emotional impact of submental fat when asked how happy, bothered, self-conscious, embarrassed, old and overweight they felt following treatment in relation to the amount of their submental fat.

The only disadvantage I can see at the moment is until they get registration in Europe, which I have heard is closer than we think doctors will not be allowed to administer these injections.   We will keep you updated it when it is released!
